Motorcycle Safety Course

What if I miss a class?

You must schedule another day when our instructors are teaching the same material. 

Do I need an Instruction Permit before taking the class?

No, you do not need an Instruction Permit.

When do classes start and where are they located?

Classes run May-September. Classroom and Range sessions are held at our school.

What is your refund policy?

No refunds.

What are the age requirements?

Students must be at least 15, and students age 15 must have a high school principal letter of recommendation. Students 16-17 must have a waiver signed by a legal guardian, and students 18+ must possess a driver's license.

What are the attendance requirements?

Students must be present on time and attend all sessions to successfully pass the course. This attendance policy is strictly enforced.

Is the class good for motorcycle licensing in other states?

The class is only suitable for Wisconsin residents who want motorcycle licensing through the Wisconsin DMV. Out-of-state individuals may take the course but will not get the motorcycle license rating in another state.

Hands-On Training

Is there a dress code requirement?

Yes, in order to go on a hands-on ride you must bring: 

  • Well-fitting full or 3/4 helmet, you must bring your own
  • Eye protection (goggles, prescription glasses, sunglasses, or a face shield
  • Gloves, no fingerless gloves are allowed
  • Body protection: no short-sleeved shirts are permitted. 
  • Long pants: jeans, chaps, or motorcycle pants (no shorts are permitted)
  • Foot protection: ankle foot protection must be worn 
  • Rain gear: we can ride in the rain, bring rain protection (no ponchos are allowed)
What do I do if I need to reschedule a training session?

As long as you cancel your training 24 hours in advance you can reschedule for free. 

What equipment is required?

Students should come to class with long pants, a long-sleeved jacket and sturdy, over-the-ankle footwear. Students are required to provide their own, properly fitted, DOT-approved full face or ¾ helmet. No ½ helmets allowed. Eye protection (prescription glasses, safety glasses, sunglasses, helmet shield are examples) and full-fingered gloves are required. We do not have loaner gloves or glasses.

Does Motorcycle Training provide bikes?

We provide all motorcycles for hands-on motorcycle training, as student-owned motorcycles are not allowed in this course.
